Selective hydrogenation of a C3-C5 alkyl alchol

Abstract

There is provided lower alkanesulphonate salts of cyanobenzylamines, which salts may be produced via a selective recrystallisation process. The salts may be produced advantageously following the selective hydrogenation of a dicyanobenzene to a cyanobenzylamine in the presence of a C3-5 alkyl alcohol.
