Abstract
The present invention provides convergent processes for preparing epothilone A and B, desoxyepothilones A and B, and analogues thereof. Also provided are analogues related to epothilone A and B and intermediates useful for preparing same. The present invention further provides novel compositions based on analogues of the epothilones and methods for the treatment of cancer and cancer which has developed a multidrug-resistant phenotype.
Claims37
A pharmaceutical composition comprising a desoxyepothilone macrolide.
A method of treating cancer in a subject comprising:
- administering a therapeutically effective amount of a desoxyepothilone to a subject in need thereof.
A method of treating cancer in a subject comprising:
- administering a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a desoxyepothilone.
A method for treating paclitaxel-resistant cancer comprising:
- administering a therapeutically effective amount of a desoxyepothilone to a subject in need thereof,
- whereby said therapeutically effective amount of said desoxyepothilone is sufficient to kill or inhibit the growth of tumor cells resistant to paclitaxel.
A method for treating adriamycin-resistant cancer comprising:
- administering a therapeutically effective amount of a desoxyepothilone to a subject in need thereof,
- whereby said therapeutically effective amount of said desoxyepothilone is sufficient to kill or inhibit the growth of tumor cells resistant to adriamycin.
A method of killing or inhibiting the growth of tumor cells comprising:
