Abstract
This invention provides an isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding an nARIA polypeptide, including human nARIA (hnARIA) and chicken nARIA (cnARIA). These nucleic acid molecules may be DNA, cDNA, or RNA. This invention also provides for a purified nARIA polypeptide. This invention provides for a replicable vector comprising an nARIA sequence and host cells comprising this vector. This invention provides for a composition comprising the nARIA polypeptide and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. One embodiment of this invention is a method for inducing the formation of a synaptic junction between a neuron and a target cell comprising contacting the target cell with an nARIA polypeptide or a nucleic acid molecule encoding nARIA in an amount sufficient to induce the formation of a synaptic junction.
Claims15
An isolated nucleic acid molecule encoding an nARIA polypeptide, said nucleic acid molecule having the sequence shown from base 93 to base 758 of FIG. 3 (SEQ ID NO:
- 3) or having a sequence which is at least 75% identical with the sequence shown from base 93 to base 758 of FIG. 3 (SEQ ID NO:
- 3), wherein the nARIA polypeptide increases the number of functional acetylcholine receptors in neurons in response to acetylcholine.
An isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a unique nARIA sequence in a 3′ to 5′ orientation, antisense to at least a portion of a nucleic acid molecule encoding nARIA polypeptide, said nucleic acid molecule encoding nARIA polypetide having the sequence shown from base 93 to base 758 of FIG. 3 (SEQ ID NO:
- 3) or having a sequence which is at least 75% identical with the sequence shown from base 93 to base 758 of FIG. 3 (SEQ ID NO:
- 3), wherein the nARIA potypeptide increases the number of functional acetylcholine receptors in neurons in response to acetylcholine.
