Abstract
A microorganism resistant to a threonine analogue, which has a plasmid containing part or whole of a biotin operon; and a process for producing biotin, which comprises culturing a microorganism described above in a medium to produce and accumulate biotin in the medium, and collecting biotin.
Claims9
An isolated microorganism resistant to β-hydroxynorvaline having a nucleic acid sequence which codes for biotin, said microorganism belonging to the genus Escherichia, Bacillits or Serratia, and produces biotin at a higher yield than a parent strain of said microorganism.
An isolated microorganism resistant to β-hydroxynorvaline comprising a plasmid containing all or part of an Escherichia coli biotin operon, said microorganism being Escherichia coli.
