Promoters capable of driving fruit-specific expression of DNA sequences in transgenic blackcurrant and other non-climacteric fruit are presented.

An isolated DNA comprising a promoter that drives fruit specific expression in blackcurrant wherein the DNA hybridizes under conditions of high stringency to a DNA consisting of the nucleic acid bases set forth in a member selected from the group consisting of the nucleic acid bases set forth in SEQ ID NO:
