Abstract
Regeneration of weakly basic anion exchange resins with a combination of an alkali metal carbonate and an alkali metal bicarbonate is disclosed. Preferably, the alkali metal is sodium. The combination can be naturally available sodium sesquicarbonate.

A method for regenerating a spent weakly basic anion exchange resin comprising the step of contacting said resin with a regenerant dosage of a combination of an alkali metal carbonate and an alkali metal bicarbonate, to obtain a regenerated weakly basic anion exchange resin.
