A method for inhibiting vaginal atrophy that comprises administering to a patient in need of inhibition of said condition an effective amount of the compound (−)-Cis-6-phenyl-5-[4-(2-pyrrolidin-1-yl-ethoxy)-phenyl]-5,6,7.8-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-ol,
- or an optical or geometric isomer, pharmacologically acceptable salt, ester, or N-oxide thereof.
