Abstract
Disclosed herein is a method for reducing neurodegenerative disease in patients by administration of a therapeutically-effective amount of a compound which can increase ApoE levels.

A method of treating a neuronal deficit in a patient, said patient diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or having a predisposition to Alzheimer's disease, said method comprising administering a therapeutically-effective amount of a composition comprising probucol or an analog of probucol, said composition being a composition which increases ApoE levels.
A method of increasing ApoE polypeptide levels in a patient diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or having a pedisposition to Alzheimer's disease, said method comprising administering a therapeutically-effective amount of a composition comprising probucol or an analog of probucol.
