Abstract
A capacitor exhibits high two-port insertion loss even at frequencies as high as 10 GHz. Notably, the capacitor exhibits an insertion loss of more than −40 dB over a range from 1 GHz to 10 GHz and no inductive resonance below a frequency of at least 1 GHz.
Claims49
A decoupling capacitor connected between a plane at a first electric potential and a plane at a second electric potential in an electronic device, said capacitor comprising two metallic layers respectively disposed at opposite sides of a dielectric layer, with connection points of said capacitor to said planes being accessed from a same side of said dielectric layer such that said capacitor does not exhibit an inductive resonance below a frequency of at least 1 GHz.
A decoupling capacitor connected between a plane at a first electric potential and a plane at a second electric potential in an electronic device, said capacitor comprising two metallic layers respectively disposed at opposite sides of a dielectric layer, with connection points of said capacitor to said planes being accessed from a same side of said dielectric layer such that a decoupling effectiveness of said capacitor is substantially maintained over a frequency range from about 1 GHz to about 10 GHz.
A capacitor connected to an electronic circuit having power distribution planes, said capacitor comprising two metallic layers respectively disposed at opposite sides of a dielectric layer and separate from said power distribution planes, with connections of said capacitor to said electronic circuit being arranged such that said capacitor does not exhibit an inductive resonance below a frequency of at least 1 GHz.
