Abstract
A multiple element color-corrected doubly telecentric lens and imaging system useful for imaging multiwell plates is described. The lens contains a biconvex field lens element L1, a positive meniscus lens element L2, concave toward the incident light side, a double-Gauss lens element group, a positive meniscus lens element L10, convex toward the incident light, a positive meniscus lens element L11, convex toward the incident light, and a plano concave field flattener lens element L12, concave toward the incident light side. The lens is very sensitive, and can be used to image scintillation proximity assays in multiwell plates.
Claims10
A method for imaging a solid-phase scintillant used in a scintillation proximity assay (SPA) in a standard multiwell plate, comprising
- positioning the plate under a multiple element doubly telecentric lens suitable for imaging said multiwell plate, wherein said doubly telecentric lens is telecentric at an object plane and at an imag plane;
- collecting light from said plate with said doubly telecentric lens;
- transmitting said light through said doubly telecentric lens to an image detection device;
- and
- generating an image of sad multiwell plate from an output of said image detection device.
A method for imaging a solid-phase scintillant used in a scintillation proximity assay, said method comprising the steps of:
- positioning a sample plate under a multiple element telecentric lens, said sample plate containing said scintillation proximity assay;
- generating light with said solid-phase scintillant;
- passing said generated light from said solid phase scintillant through a biconvex field lens element;
- passing said light transmitted by said biconvex field lens element through a first positive meniscus lens element, wherein a concave surface of said first positive meniscus lens element faces said biconvex field lens element;
- passing said light transmitted by said first positive meniscus lens element through a double-Gauss lens element group;
- passing said light transmitted by said double-Gauss lens element group through a second positive meniscus lens element, wherein a convex surface of said second positive meniscus lens element faces said double-Gauss lens element group;
- passing said light transmitted by said second positive meniscus lens element through a third positive meniscus lens element, wherein a convex surface of said third positive meniscus lens element faces said second positive meniscus lens element;
- passing said lipht transmitted by said third positive meniscus lens element through a plano concave field flattener lens element, wherein a concave surface of said plano concave field flattener lens element faces said third positive meniscus lens element;
- wherein changing a distance between said biconvex field lens element and said first positive meniscus lens element chances magnification of said telecentric lens;
- passing said light transmitted by said plano concave field flattener lens element onto an image detection device;
- and
- generating an image of said sample plate from an output of said image detection device.
