Abstract
A novel method for preventing, stabilizing or causing regression of cancer is disclosed. The method comprises administering to a patient in need thereof a tyrosine protein kinase inhibitor.

A method for preventing, stabilizing or causing regression of cancer induced by a trk oncogene protein, which comprises adminstering to a mammalian species in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a tyrosine protein kinase inhibitor wherein the tyrosine protein kinase inhibitor is selected from compounds of the formula
- wherein R1 is hydrogen or methyl, R2 is hydrogen, methyl or n-hexyl, R3 is hydrogen or methyl and R4 is hydrogen or —OCH2CH2CH3.
