Abstract
This invention is directed to treating ischemia by administering proteasome inhibitors, ubiquitin pathway inhibitors, agents that interfere with the activation of NF-κB via the ubiquitin proteasome pathway, or mixtures thereof.
Claims24
A method of treating ischemic injury in a mammal comprising administering to said mammal an effective amount of an NF-κB activation inhibitor selected from the group consisting of proteasome inhibitors, ubiquitin pathway inhibitors, agents that interfere with the activation of NF-κB via the ubiquitin proteasome pathway, and mixtures thereof.
A method of treating reperfusion injury after ischemia in a mammal comprising administering to said mammal an effective amount of an NF-κB activation inhibitor selected from the group consisting of proteasome inhibitors, ubiquitin pathway inhibitors, agents that interfere with the activation of NF-κB via the ubiquitin proteasome pathway, and mixtures thereof.
A method of preventing, reducing the size or lessening the severity of infarct resulting from ischemia or reperfusion injury in a mammal comprising administering to said mammal an effective amount of an NF-κB activation inhibitor selected from the group consisting of proteasome inhibitors, ubiquitin pathway inhibitors, agents that interfere with the activation of NF-κB via the ubiquitin proteasome pathway, and mixtures thereof.
