Load center monitor for electrical power lines

A method for monitoring and controlling a plurality of electronic circuit breakers, each having a communication port for coupling to a communication network, wherein each electronic circuit breaker is individually addressable and operable in a branch of a power distribution circuit, comprising the steps of:

• coupling a load center monitor having a processor to the communication network via a first communication port of the load center monitor;
• assigning an address to each electronic circuit breaker coupled to the communication network;
• enabling communication by the load center monitor over the network selectably according to the assigned address with a select one of the electronic circuit breakers for accessing, downloading and storing historical information from the select one of the electronic circuit breakers in the load center monitor;
• storing the historical information in a memory coupled to the processor in the load center monitor;
• analyzing the historical information stored in the memory coupled to the processor in the load center monitor to determine whether a control action is required;
• and
• outputting a control action when a limit value is traversed.
