Abstract
There are disclosed sulfone aldehyde derivatives of the Formula (1): wherein Ar is an optionally substituted aryl group, a process for producing retinal by using the same, and an intermediate for producing the sulfone aldehyde derivative.
Claims22
A sulfone aldehyde derivative of the Formula (1):
- wherein Ar is a tolyl group.
A method for producing a sulfone aldehyde derivative of the Formula (1):
- wherein Ar is an optionally substituted aryl group,
- which comprises contacting a sulfone derivative of Formula (2) with a palladium catalyst, whereby the OR group is removed:
- wherein Ar is as defined above in connection with Formula (1), and R is an acyl group.
A sulfone derivative of Formula (2):
- wherein Ar is an optionally substituted aryl group, and R is a hydrogen atom or an acyl group.
A method for producing a sulfone aldehyde derivative of the Formula (1):
- wherein Ar is an optionally substituted aryl group,
- which comprises subjecting a sulfone derivative of Formula (2) to a dehydration reaction in the presence of an acid catalyst, whereby the OR group is removed:
- wherein Ar is as defined above in connection with Formula (1), and R is a hydrogen atom.
