Abstract
A biological fluid collection container comprising a cup member, a lid assembly removably mounted to the cup member comprising a housing with a downwardly extending cylindrical skirt, a luer lock with a throughgoing bore extending from one side of the lid housing. A hollow tube extends from the other side of the lid housing adjacent the luer lock and is axially aligned with the throughgoing bore of the luer lock. The hollow tube is provided with a plurality of throughgoing holes leading into its lumen along its surface to provide for a sampling along various liquid level layers of the biological fluid specimen collected in the cup member so that when the biological fluid specimen is removed from the cup member a representative sampling is obtained.
Claims28
A method comprising:
- drawing fluid containing particulate matter from a container and passing the fluid through a first housing in fluid communication with the container, the first housing having a chamber containing chromatographic bed material;
- allowing the chromatographic bed material to freely mix with the fluid;
- returning the fluid to the container;
- separating the first housing containing the chromatographic bed material from fluid communication with the container;
- connecting a second housing in fluid communication with the container, said second housing having a filter membrane for capturing particulate matter in the fluid in a single layer disposed in the second housing;
- and
- drawing fluid containing cells from the container through the second housing and collecting particulate matter in the fluid in a single layer on the filter membrane.
A method comprising:
- using a pump, drawing fluid containing a ligand and cells from a specimen cup and passing the fluid through a first housing having a chamber containing chromatographic bed material, and into the pump, to allow the ligand to bind to the chromatographic bed material;
- using the pump, returning the fluid to the specimen cup;
- separating the first housing containing the chromatographic bed material from the pump;
- connecting a second housing to the pump, said second housing having a filter membrane for capturing cells in a monolayer disposed in the second housing;
- and
- using the pump, drawing fluid containing the ligand and cells from the specimen cup through the second housing and collecting cells in the fluid in a monolayer on the filter membrane.
A method comprising:
- drawing fluid containing an analyte from a container and passing the fluid through a first housing in fluid communication with the container, the first housing having a chamber containing chromatographic bed material;
- allowing the chromatographic bed material to freely mix with the fluid;
- returning the fluid to the container;
- separating the first housing containing the chromatographic bed material from fluid communication with the container;
- connecting a second housing in fluid communication with the container, said second housing having a filter membrane for capturing analyte in the fluid in a single layer disposed in the second housing;
- and
- drawing fluid containing from the container through the second housing and collecting analyte in the fluid in a single layer on the filter membrane.
