Abstract
Novel phenylethyl-thiourea (PHET) compounds as inhibitors of reverse transcriptase and effective agents for the treatment of HIV infection, including mutant, drug-sensitive, drug-resistant, and multi-drug resistant strains of HIV.
Claims13
A method for treating multi-drug resistant NNI resistant, and therapy naïve HIV infection in a subject comprising administering to said subject an anti-HIV effcctive amount of a compound of formula I:
- wherein:
- n is 0 to 5;
- each R is an elecron donating group;
- and
- R1 is substituted or urnsubstituted pyridyl.
A method for inhibiting replication of multi-drug resistait, NNI resistant, and therapy naïve HIV comprising contacting said HIV with an inhibitory amount of a compound of formula I:
- wherein:
- n is 0 to 5;
- each R is an electron donating group;
- and
- R1 is substituted or unsubstituted pyridyl.
A method for inhibiting multi-drug resistant, NNI resistant, and therapy naïve HIV reverse transcriptase comprisig contacting said HIV reverse transcriptase with an effective inhibitory amount of a compound of formula I:
- wherein:
- n is 0 to 5;
- each R is an electron donating group;
- and
