Abstract
Modulating agents comprising cyclic peptides, and compositions comprising such modulating agents are provided. The cyclic peptides comprise a cadherin cell adhesion recognition sequence HAV. Methods for using such peptides and compositions for modulating and/or directing neurite outgrowth in a variety of contexts are also provided.
Claims27
A method for modulating neurite outgrowth, comprising contacting a neuron with a cell adhesion modulating peptide that comprises a cyclic peptide in which nonadjacent amino acid residues are covalently linked to form a peptide ring, wherein the peptide ring comprises the sequence His-Ala-Val within a cyclic peptide ring that contains 4-15 amino acid residues for a time under conditions to effect neurite outgrowth.
