An isolated and purified polypeptide having heparin binding properties, said polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO:

An isolated and purified polyeptide comprising the amino acid sequence as represented in SEQ ID NO:
- 1, provided that said polypeptide has retained the surprising characteristics of its mitogenicity for BALB/MK cells and being less sensitive to heparin in demonstrating this effect.
