More specifically, the present invention describes novel methods for site-specific chemical modification of various proteins, and resultant compositions having improved biocompatibility and bioactivity.
Claims5
A substantially homogenous preparation of an ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid dianhydride (EDTA2)-leptin monomer.
A substantially homogenous preparation of an (EDTA2)-leptin dimer.
A EDTA2-leptin produced by a process comprising the steps of:
- (a) reacting a leptin with 0.5-5 fold molar excess of EDTA2 to form a reaction mixture;
- (b) stirring said reaction mixture 2-16 hours at 4° C.;
- (c) filtering said reaction mixture;
- (d) concentrating said reaction mixture;
- and (e) isolating said EDTA2-leptin from said reaction mixture.
