Abstract
The present invention is directed to Packaging Materials and Packaging Articles having a structure composed of a substantially linear, regio-regular functionalized hydrocarbon polymer having C4-C12 hydrocarbon polymer repeating units wherein each unit has at least one functional group uniformly pendent therefrom.
Claims34
A packaging material comprising at least one layer wherein at least one of said layer comprises a linear, regio-regular functionalized hydrocarbon polymer having repeating units represented by the formula:
- wherein
- X and Y each independently represents hydrogen, a C1-C3 alkyl or a functional group selected from hydroxyl, carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid ester, acetate, amide, nitrile or carbonyl group, provided at least one of said X and Y represents a functional group;
- each R independently represents hydrogen or a C1-C5 alkyl;
- and
- “a” represents an integer of from 1 to 9.
A packaging article capable of retaining an oxygen sensitive material therein, said article having a structure comprising at least one layer wherein at least one of said layers comprises a linear, regio-regular functionalized hydrocarbon polymer comprising repeating units represented by the formula:
- wherein each X and Y independently represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxyl group provided at least one of said X and Y represents a hydroxyl group;
- R represents hydrogen or a C1-C5 alkyl;
- and “a” represents an integer of 1-9.
