Abstract
This invention relates generally to new luminescent materials. Specifically, this invention relates to the discovery of phosphor materials in the forms of A2BX4, ABX4-y:M and A3-zB5X12:Mz. More specifically, this invention relates to the discovery of phosphor materials having compositions of matter in the forms, Sr2CeO4, (Y0.82Al0.07La0.06)VO4:Eu0.05 and (Y0.5Gd0.5)2.97(Al0.5Gd0.5)5O12:Ce0.03.
Claims9
A method for providing luminescence comprising providing a phosphor comprising the general formula:
- (Y1-xGdx)3-z(Al1-yGay)5O12:Cez
- wherein x is between about 0.3 and about 0.6, y is between about 0.3 and about 0.6, and z is between about 0.01 and about 0.06, stimulating the phosphor with energy in the range of about 325 nm to about 375 nm and about 400 to about 500 nn and observing luminescence from said phosphor.
A method for providing luminescence comprising providing a phosphor comprising the general formula:
- (Y1-xGdx)3-z(Al1-yGay)5O12:Cez
- wherein x is between about 0.3 and about 0.6, y is between about 0.3 and about 0.6, and z is between about 0.01 and about 0.06, stimulating the phosphor with radiation and observing photoluminescence from said phosphor;
- and further wherein said radiation is in range of from about 400 nm to about 500 nm.
A method for providing luminescence comprising providing a phosphor comprising the general formula:
- (Y1-xGdx)3-z(Al1-yGay)5O12:Cez
- wherein x does not exceed 1, y does not exceed 1, and z is between about 0.01 and about 0.06, stimulating the phosphor with a blue light source;
- and observing luminescence from said phosphor;
- and further wherein said blue light source is in range of from about 425 nm to about 475 nm.
