Abstract
The present invention relates to a thermal transfer method for heating or cooling a biopharmaceutical medium. A structure is positioned in the container. A heat exchange member is coupled to an interior surface of the container wherein a distal end of the heat exchange member is placed in close proximity to the structure to allow formation of a thermal transfer bridge that conducts heat into or out of the medium.
Claims21
A method of processing biopharmaceuticals comprising:
- providing a container for receiving a medium, the medium comprising a biopharmaceutical product, said container comprising a jacket on an outer wall of the container for receiving a flow of heat exchange fluid;
- positioning a structure in said container, and a heat exchange fluid flowing through the structure;
- coupling a heat exchange member to an interior surface of the container wherein a distal end of the heat exchange member is placed in close spaced proximity to the structure thereby defining a gap between the heat exchange member and the structure;
- introducing the medium into the container;
- and
- forming a thermal transfer bridge in the gap between the heat exchange member and the structure, wherein the thermal transfer bridge conducts heat out of the medium.
