Abstract
The present invention relates to novel s-triazine compounds, processes for their preparation and the use of these novel compounds as UV filters in sunscreen compositions. The novel compounds are those of the formula The triazine compounds of the formula (1) according to the invention are distinguished by a high UV absorption and are particularly suitable as UV filters, i.e. for protecting ultra-violet-sensitive organic materials, in particular the skin and the hair of man and animals, from the harmful action of UV radiation.

A cosmetic preparation, comprising at least one triazine compound of the formula
- in which
- R is halogen;
- straight-chain or branched C1-C22-alkyl;
- straight-chain or branched C1-C22-alkoxy;
- straight-chain or branched C1-C22-hydroxyalkoxy;
- straight-chain or branched C1-C22-alkoxyalkyl;
- —NHR1;
- or a radical of the formula
- X1, X2 and X3 independently of one another are —CONHR1;
- —SO2R4;
- —CN;
- R1 is hydrogen;
- straight-chain or branched C1-C22alkyl;
- C6-C12aryl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- C7-C10aralkyl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- C5-C8cycloalkyl;
- or a radical of the formula
- in which
- A1 is straight-chain or branched C1-C8alkyl;
- C5-C8-cycloalkyl;
- C6-C12aryl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- C7-C10aralkyl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- and
- m1 is 1 to 10;
- R2 and R3 independently of one another are hydrogen;
- straight-chain or branched C1-C22alkyl;
- C5-C8cycloalkyl;
- C6-C12aryl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- C7-C10aralkyl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- a radical of the formula (1b);
- or a radical of the formula
- R4 is branched or straight-chain C1-C22alkyl;
- C5-C8cycloalkyl;
- C6-C12aryl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- C7-C10aralkyl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- a radical of the formula (1b);
- or
- R5 and R6 independently of one another are hydrogen;
- straight-chain or branched C1-C22alkyl;
- C5-C8cycloalkyl;
- C6-C12aryl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- C7-C10aralkyl which is unsubstituted, monosubstituted or polysubstituted by C1-C4alkyl;
- or a radical of the formula (1b);
- X4, X5 and X6 are hydrogen;
- or hydroxy;
- where compounds of the formula (1) are not additionally included in which
- X1 and X2 are —CONHR1;
