Abstract
o-Hydroxyphenyl-s-triazines of the formula I in which n is 1 to 4 and R1 to R7 are as defined in claim 1, can be used, in combination with sterically hindered amines of the polyalkylpiperidine type, for stabilizing organic polymers. Some of these compounds ate novel and can also be used without polyalkylpiperidine.
Claims7
An ultraviolet absorber consisting of at least one o-hydroxyphenyl-s-triazine of the formula:
- wherein R is alkyl of 1 to 18 carbon atoms.
2,4-bis(2,4-Dimethylphenyl)-6-{2-hydroxy-4-(3-butoxy-2-hydroxypropyloxy)phenyl}-1,3,5-triazine.
2,4-bis(2,4-Dimethylphenyl)-6-{2-hydroxy-4-(3-octoxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)phenyl}-1,3,5-triazine.
An ultraviolet absorber consisting of at least one o-hydroxyphenyl-s-triazine of the formula:
- wherein:

- R4 is alkyl of 1 to 12 carbon atoms;
- and
- R7 is:
- (i) alkyl of 3 to 12 carbon atoms substituted with alkoxy of 1-18 carbon atoms and hydroxy;
- or
- (ii) alkyl of 6 to 12 carbon atoms substituted with hydroxy.
A compound of the formula:
- wherein R7 is selected from the group consisting of 3-butoxy-2-hydroxypropyl;
