A method for treating schizophrenia in a mammalian species, which comprises administering to a mammalian species in need of such treatment an effective amount of an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, wherein the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor is a phosphonate substituted amino or imino acid or salt thereof, a substituted proline derivative, a carboxyalkyl dipeptide derivative, a phosphinylalkanoyl proline derivative or a phosphonamidate derivative.
A method for treating schizophrenia in a mammalian species, which comprises administering to a mammalian species in need of such treatment an effective amount of an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, wherein the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor is a phosphonate substituted amino or imino acid or salt thereof, a substituted proline derivative, a carboxyalkyl dipeptide derivative, a phosphinylalkanoyl proline derivative or a phosphonamidate derivative, in combination with a neuroleptic drug, wherein the neuroleptic drug is fluphenazine HCl or decanoate, haloperidol, perchlorperazine, loxapine succinate or HCl, thioridazine HCl, molindone HCl, thiothixene or its HCl, trifluoperazine HCl, chlorprothixene, its lactate and/or HCl, chlorpromazine, perphenazine and/or amitriptyline HCl and/or cholecystokinin.
A method for treating schizophrenia in a mammalian specie, which comprises administering to a mammalian specie in need of such treatment an effective amount of an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor which is ceronapril in an amount within the range of from about 1 to 50 mg, one to four times a day.
