Abstract
The present invention discloses a method for increasing the efficiency of transfection of cells by incubating the transfected cells with an inhibitor of apoptosis. In one embodiment, the inhibitor of apoptosis is a caspase inhibitor.

A method of increasing the efficiency of transfection of cells by inhibiting apoptosis induced by DNA uptake comprising the step of exposing the cells to an inhibitor of apoptosis in an amount sufficient to increase the transfection efficiency over cells transfected in the absence of the apoptosis inhibitor.
