Abstract
A dielectric for use in making high optical contrast and UV light fluorescing substrates usable in printed circuit boards, which in turn may form part of an electronic package. The dielectric comprises a resin, a coloring agent, and a fluorescing agent and does not include a reinforcing material. The substrate also includes a first conductive layer on the dielectric layer.
Claims25
A substrate comprising:
- at least one dielectric layer, having first and second surfaces, including a resin material, coloring agent, and a fluorescing agent, said dielectric layer not including reinforcing material as part thereof;
- and
- a first conductive layer positioned on said first surface of said at least one dielectric layer, said at least one dielectric layer providing a visual indication of defects in said first conductive layer when exposed to electromagnetic radiation.
A method of making a substrate comprising the steps of:
- providing at least one dielectric layer, having first and second surfaces, including a resin material, coloring agent, and a fluorescing agent, said dielectric layer not including reinforcing material as part thereof;
- positioning a first conductive layer on said first surface of said at least one dielectric layer;
- and
- exposing said substrate magnetic to radiation, said at least one dielectric layer providing a visual indication of defects in said first conductive layer, when exposed to said magnetic radiation.
