Abstract
An illumination device that can use a white light diode in a flexible arm plugs into, and is powered through, a utility power jack of a portable computing device or a utility port of a portable computing device.
Claims27
An apparatus for illuminating a portable electronic or computing device having a utility power jack in electrical connection with a power source, comprising:
- a plug for plugging the apparatus into the utility power jack;
- a body connected to the plug;
- and
- an illumination device attached to the body and to be electrically connected to the utility powerjack through the plug and the body. the illumination device including a light emitting diode to illuminate the portable electronic device;
- wherein the illumination device is powered by the power source when the apparatus is plugged into the utility power jack.
A method of illuminating a non-backlit display screen of a handheld portable video game device having a utility power jack in electrical connection with a power source, comprising:
- providing an apparatus including a plug for plugging the apparatus into the utility power jack, a body connected to the plug, and a light emitting diode attached to the body and to be electrically connected to the utility power jack through the plug and the body;
- coupling the plug of the apparatus with the utility jack of the handheld portable video game device so as to power the light emitting diode;
- and
- illuminating the non-backlit display screen of the handheld portable video game device with the light emitting diode.
An apparatus for illuminating a portable electronic or computing device having a first utility power jack in electrical connection with a power source, comprising:

- a first plug for plugging the apparatus into the first utility power jack the first plug having a second utility power jack to receive a second plug that is in electrical communication utility power jack when the second plugged into the second utility jack and the first plug is plugged into the first utility power jack;
- a body connected to the first plug;
- and
- an illumination device attached to the body and to be electrically connected to the first utility power jack through the first plug and the body
- wherein the illumination device is powered by the power source when the apparatus is plugged into the first utility power jack.
An apparatus for illuminating a portable electronic or computing device having a first utility power jack in electrical connection with a power source, comprising:
- a first plug for plugging the apparatus into the first utility power jack, the first plug having a second utility power jack to receive a second plug that is in electrical communication with the first utility power jack when the second plug is pluged into the second utility power jack and the first plug is plugged into the first utility power jack,
- a body connected to the first plug;
- and
- an illumination device attached to the body and to be electrically connected to the first utility power jack through the first plug and the body, the illumination device including a light emitting diode;
- wherein the illumination device is powered by the power source when the apparatus is plugged into the first utility power jack.
An apparatus for illuminating a non-backlit display screen of a handheld portable video game device having a utility port in electrical connection with a power source, comprising:
- a plug for plugging the apparatus into the utility port;
- a body connected to the plug;
- and
- a light emitting diode (“LED”) attached to the body and to be electrically connected to the utility port through the plug and the body, the light emitting diode to illuminate the non-backlit display screen of the handheld portable video game device;
- wherein the LED is powered by the power source when the apparatus is plugged into the utility port.
An apparatus for illuminating a non-backlit display screen of a handheld portable video game device having a first utility port in electrical connection with a power source, comprising:
- a first plug for plugging the apparatus into the first utility port, the first plug having a second utility port to receive a second plug that is in electrical communication with the first utility port when the second plug is plugged into the second utility port and the first plug is plugged into the first utility port;
- a body connected to the first plug;
- and
- a light emitting diode (“LED”) attached to the body and to be electrically connected to the first utility port through the first plug and the body;
- wherein the LED is powered by the power source when the apparatus is plugged into the first utility port.
