Abstract
An automated banking machine (10) identifies and stores documents such as currency bills deposited by a user. The machine then selectively recovers such documents from storage and dispenses them to other users. The machine includes a central transport (70) wherein documents deposited in a stack are unstacked, oriented and identified. Such documents are then routed to storage areas in recycling canisters (92, 94, 96, 98). When a user subsequently requests a dispense, documents stored in the storage areas are selectively picked therefrom and delivered to the user through an input/output area (50) of the machine.
Claims78
A method comprising the steps of:
- (a). storing a stack comprsing a plurality of sheets in a first storage location in a canister in an automated banking machine;
- (b). covering the first storage location with a movable door, the door being in rotatably mounted connection with the canister;
- (c). moving the door from a closed position to an open position;
- and at different times with the door in the open position:
- (d). delivering a sheet from the first storage location into a sheet path in the machine;
- and
- (e). receiving a sheet from the sheet path into the first storage location.
A method comprising the step of:
- (a) storing a stack comprising a plurality of sheets in a first storage location in a canister in an automated banking machine:
- (b) covering the storage location with a movable door,
- (c) moving the door from a closed position to an open position;
- and at different times with the door in the open position:
- (d) delivering a sheet from the storag location into a sheet path in the machine;
- and
- (e) receiving a sheet from the sheet path into the first storage location, including moving the sheet toward the first storage location in engagement with both a second door and a sheet moving member, wherein the second door overlies a second storage location holding a plurality of sheets.
Apparatus comprising:
- a canister including a first storage area and a second storage area, each of the first and second storage areas aapted for holding a plurality of sheets;
- a first door movably mounted in supporting connection with the canister and overlying the first storage area, wherein the first storage area is disposed in a first direction relative to the second storage area;
- and
- a sheet thickness detector device in supporting connection with the first door, wherein the detector device is operative to sense thickness of sheets moved in the first direction from the second storage area.
Apparatus compising:
- a removable canister incling at least one storage location, wherein the storage location is adapted to store a stack of sheets;
- a movable first door in rotatably mounted connection with the canister, wherein the first door overlies the storage location;
- a sheet moving member adjacent the first door, wherein the sheet moving member is adapted to move sheets along a sheet path;
- a sheet drive in operative connection with the sheet moving member, wherein the sheet drive is operative to move the sheet moving member;
- wherein the first door is selectively operative to move between an open position wherein the first storage location is in operative connection with the sheet path, and a second position wherein the first storage location is not in operative connection with the sheet path, whereby when the first door is in the second position the door prevents sheets from entering and leaving the storage location.
Apparatus comprising:
- a removable canister including at least one storage location, wherein the storage location is adapted to store a stack of sheets;
- a fire door in supporting connection with the canister, wherein the first door overlies the storae location;
- a sheet moving member adjacent the first door, wherein the sheet moving member is adapted to move sheets along a sheet path;
- a sheet drive in operative connection with the sheet moving member, wherein the sheet drive is operative to move the sheet moving member;
- wherein the first door is selectively operative to move between an open position wherein the first storage location is in operative connection with the sheet path and a second position wherein the first storage location is not in operative connection with the sheet path, whereby when the first door is in the second position sheets are prevented from entering and the location;
- a first movable member in supporting connection with the canister, wherein the first movable member is movable between a first position wherein the first movable member extends in overlying relation of the first storage locaton, and a second position wherein the first movable member does not overlie the first storage location, wherein in the first position of the first movable member and in the closed position of the first door the door overlies the first movable member, and
- a first member moving drive, wherein the first member moving drive is selectively operative to move the first movable member between the first and second positions, wherein in the first position of the first movable member and in the open position of the first door sheets are enabled to extend between the first movable member and the door.
Apparatus comprising:
- a removable canister including at least one storage location, wherein the storage location is adapted to store a stack of sheet;
- a movable door in rotatably mounted connection with the canister, wherein the door overlies the storage location;
- a sheet moving member adjacent the door, wherein the sheet moving member is adapted to move sheets along a sheet path;
- wherein the door has an inner surface and an outer surface, wherein the inner surface is adapted to face the storage location, and wherein the outer surface is adapted to engage sheets moving along the sheet path;
- wherein the door is selectively operative to move between an open position wherein the storage location is in operative connection with the sheet path, and a closed position wherein the storage location is not in operative connection with the sheet path.
