Abstract
A wideband operational amplifier in accordance with the present invention overcomes many shortcomings of the prior art. A wideband operational amplifier may be configured to provide a high output voltage and high output current. The amplifier may comprise an input stage having a first input buffer and a second input buffer, and an output stage amplifier having an output buffer. The input stage may also include current mirrors configured to facilitate a lower input offset voltage and lower input voltage noise. Moreover, the operational amplifier may also provide a wide common-mode input range and full power bandwidth simultaneously.
Claims13
A wideband operational amplifier for use in integrated circuits, said operational amplifier comprising:
- an input stage comprising:
- a first input buffer having an input terminal and an output terminal;
- a second input buffer having an input terminal and an output terminal;
- a resistor network connected between said output terminal of said first input buffer and said output terminal of said second input buffer;
- a first pair of current mirrors, each current mirror of said first pair of current mirrors having an input terminal connected to at least one terminal of said first input buffer and having an output terminal connected to said output terminal of said second input buffer;
- and,
- a second pair of current mirrors, each current mirror of said second pair of current mirrors having an input terminal connected to at least one terminal of said second input buffer;
- and
- an output stage comprising an output buffer, said output buffer having an input terminal connected to said second input buffer;
- and an output terminal for providing a high output current and a high output voltage;
- and
- wherein said first pair of current mirrors is configured to facilitate the correction of voltage offset occurring at said output terminal of said output buffer.
- wherein said input terminal of said output buffer is connected to an output terminal of said each current mirror of said second pair of current mirrors.
An operational amplifier for providing a high output current and voltage reference, said operational amplifier comprising:
- first input buffer having a power supply, an input terminal and an output terminal;
- a second input buffer having a power supply, an input terminal and an output terminal;
- a resistor network connected between said output terminal of said first input buffer and said output terminal of said second input buffer;
- a first pair of current mirrors, each current mirror of said first pair of current mirrors having an input terminal connected to said power supply of said first input buffer and having an output terminal connected to said output terminal of said second input buffer, said first pair of current mirrors is configured to facilitate the correction of voltage offset occurring within said operational amplifier;
- and a second pair of current mirrors, cash current or of said second pair of current mirrors having an input terminal connected to said power supply of said second input buffer.
