Abstract
An implantable medical article as well as an implantable fiber which is particularly useful for medical implants is disclosed. The fiber includes comprises a first component formed from a substantially resorbable material and a second component formed from a fiber-forming polymer.

A bicomponent fiber comprising a first polymer component formed from a resorbable material and a second component formed from a fiber-forming polymer which is non-resorbable wherein the polymer chains in said first and second components are simultaneously oriented by drawing the fiber during or subsequent to co-extrusion.
