Synthetic Intermediates for the preparation of N, N'-Di-substituted isothiourea derivatives and N-cyclic(methyl)-N'-Substituted isothiourea derivatives

A compound having the following formula:

• ##STR60## R is a methyl group, X is an electron withdrawing group selected from the group consisting of cyano, nitro, alkoxycarbonyl, hydroxycarbonyl C.sub.6-10 aryloxycarbonyl, heterocycloxycarbonyl, C.sub.1-4 alkylsulfonyl which may be optionally substituted with halogen, sulfamoyl, di-C.sub.1-4 alkoxyphosphoryl, C.sub.1-4 acyl which may be optionally substituted with halogen, carbamoyl, and C.sub.1-4 alkylsulfonylthiocarbamoyl;
• Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2, which are the same or different, are each independently oxygen or sulfur;
• and
• A is divalent substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1-4 alkylene or a cyclic group represented by the formula:
• ##STR61## wherein the C-ring represents a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated, cyclic C.sub.3-8 hydrocarbon, and m is 0, said substituted C.sub.1-4 alkylene, C.sub.2-4 alkenylene and cyclic hydrocarbon of the C-ring are substituted with one to five substituent groups selected from the group consisting of halogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, C.sub.1-5 acyloxy, C.sub.1-4 alkylthio, C.sub.2-5 alkoxycarbonyl, C.sub.1-4 alkylthio, C.sub.1-4 alkylsulfinyl, C.sub.1-4 alkylsulfonyl and C.sub.7-12 aralkylthio.
