Abstract
A method for treating a neoplasm, such as a malignant tumor, in humans and other animals, is disclosed. A chromophore and an immunoadjuvant are introduced into the neoplasm. The neoplasm is then lased at an irradiance sufficient to induce neoplastic cellular destruction and to stimulate the self-immunological defense system against neoplastic cellular multiplication.
Claims17
A method for treating a neoplasm in a human or other animal host, comprising the steps of:
- (a) selecting a chromophore and an immunoadjuvant, said immunoadjuvant comprising glycated chitosan;
- (b) introducing said chromophore and said immunoadjuvant into said neoplasm to obtain a conditioned neoplasm;
- and
- (c) irradiating in said conditioned neoplasm whereby neoplastic cellular destruction of said conditioned neoplasm is induced producing fragmented neoplastic tissue and cellular molecules in the presence of said immunoadjuvant which stimulates the self-immunological defense system of said host against neoplastic cellular multiplication.
The method for treating a neoplasm in a human or other animal host, comprising the steps of:
- (a) introducing a chromophore and an immunoadjuvant into said neoplasm to obtain a conditioned neoplasm;
- and
- (c) irradiating said conditioned neoplasm to elevate the temperature of said neoplasm to at least 140.degree. F.;
- whereby neoplastic cellular destruction of said conditioned neoplasm is induced producing fragmented neoplastic tissue and cellular molecules in the presence of said immunoadjuvant which stimulates the self-immunological defense system of said host against neoplastic cellular multiplication.
A method for treating a neoplasm in humans and other animals, comprising the steps of:
- (a) preparing a solution of indocyanine green and glycated chitosan at a concentration of 0.1 to 2% of said indocyanine green to said glycated chitosan;
- (b) injecting 70 to 400 .mu.l of said solution into said neoplasm;
- and
- (c) lasing said neoplasm using a laser having a power of about 5 watts and a wavelength of radiation capable of readily penetrating normal cellular tissues without significant disruption for a duration of 1 to 10 minutes such that the temperature of said neoplasm is elevated in order to induce neoplastic cellular destruction and to stimulate the self-immunological defense system against neoplastic cellular multiplication.
