Abstract
An apparatus and method for allocating a data path during a call by establishing a first network call segment associated with an agent and sending a message with routing information across a tandem link using predetermined signaling paths. A second embodiment of the invention comprises a method of allocating a data path during a call wherein the datapath is also a voice path. A third embodiment of the present invention additionally includes apparatus and method for allocating a data path during a call including establishing a two-way connection.
Claims16
An apparatus for using distributed call segments to restore a connection between an origination and a destination across a failed link comprising:
- means for issuing a tandem release from said failed link,
- means for establishing a new tandem connection across a predetermined alternate path between said origination and said destination;
- and
- means for allocating a new alternate path between said origination and said destination.
A method for using distributed call segments to restore a connection between an origination and a destination across a failed link comprising the steps of:
- issuing a tandem release from said failed link,
- establishing a new tandem connection across predetermined alternate path between said origination and said destination and
- allocating a new alternate path between said origination and said destination.
