Abstract
Silylalkylthiols are produced by reacting silylalkylsulfanylsilanes with water. The silylalkylsulfanylsilanes used as starting products can be produced by reacting bil-silylalkylpolysulfanes or bis-silylalkyldisulfanes with alkali metal and chlorosilanes.

A method of producing a silylalkylthiol, comprising reacting a silylalkylsulfanylsilane with water.
A method of producing a silylalkylthiol comprising the steps of reacting a bis-silylalkyl-polysulfane or bis-silylalkyldisulfane with an alkali metal and chlorosilane to produce a silylalkylsulfanylsilane, and reacting said silylalkylsulfanylsilane with water.
