Wettable polymer fibers, compositions for preparaing same and articles made therefrom

Wettable fibers or filaments prepared from a composition comprising:

• a thermoplastic polymer having incorporated therein
• a first wetting agent and
• a second wetting agent,
• wherein the thermoplastic polymer is selected from the group consisting of olefin polymers,
• wherein the first wetting agent is at least one water-insoluble nonionic alkoxylated alkyl phenol, and
• wherein the second wetting agent is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an alkoxylated fatty alcohol and a water-soluble, nonionic, non-hydrolyzable polyoxyalkylene-modified organosilicone polymer.
