Abstract
An electromechanical bypass mechanism is provided for use in a hydrostatic transmission, to enable the user to open or close a bypass to the hydraulic circuit of the transmission through use of an switch mechanism attached to the bypass mechanism in the circuit. The invention also comprises an improved neutral feature for hydrostatic transmissions, with a switch connected to the control mechanism for the unit, whereby the switch is activated to place the unit in bypass when said mechanism is placed in the neutral location. A means is provided for opening and closing a shunt or bypass between the high pressure side and the low pressure side of the hydrostatic system which is triggered by an electrical signal.
Claims36
A transmission for use in a vehicle, comprising
- a housing;
- a hydrostatic pump and motor unit connected through a hydraulic circuit;
- a sump containing hydraulic fluid;
- a valve mechanism connecting said hydraulic circuit to said sump and having an opened and a closed position;
- and
- an electronic switch associated with said vehicle, where said valve mechanism opens and closes in response to said electronic switch.
A transmission for use in a vehicle, comprising
- a housing defining a chamber;
- a hydrostatic pump and motor disposed in said chamber;
- a hydraulic conduit fluidly connecting said pump and said motor;
- a relief valve disposed in said conduit for permitting hydraulic fluid to flow between said conduit and said chamber;
- and
- an electronic switch associated with said vehicle, wherein said relief valve opens and closes in response to a signal from said switch.
A transmission for use in a vehicle, comprising
- a housing defining a chamber;
- a hydrostatic pump and motor disposed in said chamber;
- a hydraulic conduit fluidly connecting said pump and said motor, and having a high pressure side and a low pressure side;
- a shunt between said low pressure side and said high pressure side of said conduit, said shunt having an opened and a closed position;
- and
- an electronic switch associated with said vehicle and operable to generate a signal to open and close said shunt.
An axle driving apparatus for use in a vehicle, comprising
- a housing defining a chamber;
- a hydrostatic pump and motor disposed in said chamber;
- a hydraulic circuit fluidly connecting said pump and said motor;
- a valve operatively connected to said hydraulic circuit for opening and closing said circuit to said chamber;
- a shift mechanism mounted on said vehicle and operatively connected to said hydrostatic pump for controlling the speed and direction thereof;
- and
- a first electronic switch actuated by said shift mechanism and operatively connected to open or close said valve.
An axle driving apparatus for use in a vehicle, comprising
- a housing defining a chamber;
- a hydrostatic pump and motor disposed in said chamber;
- a hydraulic conduit having a high pressure side and a low pressure side and acting to fluidly connect said pump and said motor;
- means for opening said hydraulic conduit to said chamber;
- a shunt between said low pressure side and said high pressure side of said conduit, and having an opened and a closed position;
- and
- an electronic switch associated with said vehicle and operable to generate a signal to open and close said shunt.
