Abstract
A process for preparing guanidine derivatives, in particular creatine, is described and entails an O-alkylisourea salt and a primary or secondary amine being reacted in the presence of crystals of a guanidine derivative.
Claims10
A process for preparing guanidine derivatives of the formula I ##STR5## in which R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkylene or a divalent cycloaliphatic radical with 5 to 10 carbon atoms
- R.sup.2 is H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl, or
- R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 represent, together with the N atom to which they are bonded, a 5- or 6-membered Z-substituted ring,
- Z is COOR.sup.3.sub., SO.sub.2 OR.sup.3 or PO(OR.sup.3)(OR.sup.4),
- R.sup.3 is in each case independently H, an alkali metal or an equivalent of an alkaline earth metal and
- R.sup.4 is in each case independently H, an alkali metal, an equivalent of an alkaline earth metal or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl,
- which process comprises providing seed crystals of the guanidine derivative of the formula I and reacting an O-alkylisourea salt of the formula II ##STR6## in which R.sup.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.8 -alkyl and X.sup..crclbar. is an equivalent of an anion,
- with an amine of the formula III ##STR7## in the presence of the seed crystals.
