Abstract
The invention provides novel methods for modulating apoptosis in eukaryotic cells using peptides and proteins derived from p33.sup.ING1 or oligonucleotides derived from the ING1 gene. The invention also provides method of determining the apoptotic characteristic of a eukaryotic cell.
Claims11
A method to potentiate apoptosis in a eukaryotic cell, which method comprises:
- a) selecting said eukaryotic cell;
- and
- b) increasing the p33.sup.ING1 biological activity in said eukaryotic cell by introducing into said eukaryotic cell in vitro an effective amount of a peptide substantially identical to p33.sup.ING1 and having p33.sup.ING1 biological activity or an oligonucleotide which codes for a peptide substantially identical to p33.sup.ING1 and having p33.sup.ING1 biological activity under conditions such that apoptosis is potentiated.
