A biologically pure or isolated Nocardia brasiliensis capable of producing compound 0406 of the formula (1) ##STR3## wherein R.sub.1 is --COCH.sub.2 COOH or H;
- R.sub.2 is --CO(CH.sub.2).sub.3 CH.sub.3 or --CO(CH.sub.2).sub.4 CH.sub.3 or H, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
