Abstract
A knee prosthesis including a tibial component and a meniscal component adapted to be engaged through the tibial component through an asymmetrical engagement.
Claims11
A knee prosthesis comprising:
- a tibial component;
- and
- a meniscal component adapted to be engaged to the tibial component through an asymmetrical engagement adapted for one of a right and a left knee joint of a patient,
- wherein the tibial component comprises a tibial seat having a substantially Y-shaped cavity with a first arm and a second arm intersecting at a base, and
- wherein the meniscal component comprises a meniscal plate and a protuberance extending from a bottom surface of the meniscal plate having a shape adapted to engage with the base and one of the first arm and the second arm of the cavity of the tibial seat.

A knee prosthesis comprising:
- a tibial component;
- and
- a meniscal component adapted to be engaged to the tibial component through an asymmetrical engagement adapted for one of a right and a left knee joint of a patient,
- wherein the meniscal component comprises a meniscal plate having a substantially Y-shaped cavity with a first arm and a second arm intersecting at a base, and
- wherein the tibial component comprises a tibial seat and a protuberance extending from a top surface of the tibial seat with a shape adapted to engage with the base and one of the first arm and the second arm of the cavity of the meniscal plate.

A knee prosthesis comprising:
- a tibial component;
- and
- a meniscal component having means for engaging the tibial component through an asymmetrical engagement for one of a right and left knee joint of a patient,
- wherein the engagement means includes a substantially Y-shaped cavity in one of said tibial component and meniscal component, the Y-shaped cavity having a first arm and a second arm intersecting at a base, and a protuberance extending from the other of one of a bottom surface of the meniscal plate and a top surface of the tibial plate, the protuberance having a shape adapted to engage with the base and one of the first arm and the second arm of the Y-shaped cavity.
