Wheelchair lift with improved outer, inner, and side barriers

A wheelchair lift comprising:

• (a) a platform frame movable between an extended position and a retracted position;
• (b) a wheelchair platform coupled to the platform frame, the wheelchair platform being movable between a raised position and a lowered position;
• and
• (c) opposing foldable side barriers attached to opposite sides of the wheelchair platform, the foldable side barriers being movable between a raised position in which the side barriers extend approximately perpendicular to an upper surface of the wheelchair platform and a retracted position in which the side barriers lie adjacent the upper surface of the wheelchair platform, wherein the bottom ends of the side barriers are curved through 180 degrees.

A wheelchair lift comprising:

• (a) a platform frame movable between an extended position and a retracted position;
• (b) a wheelchair platform coupled to the platform frame, the wheelchair platform being movable between a raised position and a lowered position;
• (c) opposing foldable side barriers attached to opposite sides of the wheelchair platform, the foldable side barriers being movable between a raised position in which the side barriers extend approximately perpendicular to an upper surface of the wheelchair platform and a retracted position in which the side barriers lie adjacent the upper surface of the wheelchair platform;
• and
• (d) a bell crank that is rotatably attached to the wheelchair platform, the opposing foldable side barriers being attached to opposing ends of the bell crank such that rotation of the bell crank moves the side barriers between the raised and retracted positions.

A wheelchair lift comprising:

• (a) a platform frame movable between an extended position and a retracted position;
• (b) a wheelchair platform coupled to the platform frame, the wheelchair platform being movable between a raised position and a lowered position;
• (c) opposing foldable side barriers attached to opposite sides of the wheelchair platform, the foldable side barriers being movable between a raised position in which the side barriers extend approximately perpendicular to an upper surface of the wheelchair platform and a retracted position in which the side barriers lie adjacent the upper surface of the wheelchair platform;
• and
• (d) opposing hand rails releasably coupled to opposite sides of the wheelchair platform, the hand rails extending upward from an upper surface of the wheelchair platform and being movable between a plurality of different locations along the length of the wheelchair platform.
