Abstract
A composition comprises organoborane polyamine complex and polyol. The composition can form a part of a polymerization initiator system that also includes polyisocyanate. The system can be used to initiate polymerization of acrylic monomer and to form a polyurethane/polyurea acrylic adhesive that has exceptionally good adhesion to low surface energy polymers.
Claims37
A composition comprising organoborane polyamine complex and polyol, the weight ratio of the polyol to the complex being no greater than about 20:1.
A composition comprising organoborane polyamine complex and polyol, the polyol being selected from the group consisting of polyether polyol and polyester polyol.
A room temperature liquid solution comprising:
- (a) a complex of:
- (1) organoborane having the structure:
- ##STR14## wherein:
- R.sup.1 is an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently select from groups having 1 to 10 carbon atoms and phenyl-containing groups, and
- (2) polyamine;
- and
- (b) polyol,
- the weight ratio of the polyol to the complex being no greater than about 20:1.
A composition comprising an organoborane polyamine complex and a polyol, the polyamine component of the complex being selected from the group consisting of:
- (i) alkyl polyamine;
- (ii) polyoxyalkylenepolyamine;
- and
- (iii) the reaction product of diprimary amine-terminated material and one or more materials having at least two groups reactive with primary amine, wherein the number of primary amine groups in the reaction mixture was greater than the number of groups reactive with primary amine.
A composition comprising an organoborane polyamine complex and a polyol, the composition being essentially free of polymerizable material the polymerization of which can be initiated by organoborane.
A room temperature liquid-solution comprising:
- (a) a complex of:
- (1) organoborane having the structure:
- ##STR17## wherein:
- R.sup.1 is an allyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently select from groups having 1 to 10 carbon atoms and phenyl-containing groups, and
- (2) polyamine;
- and
- (b) polyol,
- the solution being essentially free of polymerizable material the polymerization of which can be initiated by organoborane.
A composition comprising an organoborane polyamine complex and a polyurethane formation catalyst.
