Oxime sulfonates and the use thereof as latent sulfonic acids

A compounds of the formulae I or II ##STR75## m is 0 or 1;

• x is 1 or 2
• R.sub.1 is phenyl, which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more of the radicals C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl, halogen, phenyl, OR.sub.6, NR.sub.7 R.sub.8, SR.sub.9 or --S-phenyl, it being possible for the substituents OR.sub.6, SR.sub.9 and NR.sub.7 R.sub.8 to form 5- or 6-membered rings, via the radicals R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8 or R.sub.9, with further substituents on the phenyl ring or with one of the carbon atoms of the phenyl ring, or R.sub.1 is naphthyl, anthracyl or phenanthryl, the radicals naphthyl, anthracyl and phenanthryl being unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, phenyl, OR.sub.6, NR.sub.7 R.sub.8, SR.sub.9 or --S-phenyl, it being possible for the substituents OR.sub.6, SR.sub.9 and NR.sub.7 R.sub.8 to form 5- or 6-membered rings, via the radicals R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8 or R.sub.9 with further substituents on the naphthyl, anthracyl or phenanthryl ring or with one of the carbon atoms of the naphthyl, anthracyl or phenanthryl ring, or R.sub.1 is a heteroaryl radical that is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, phenyl, OR.sub.6, NR.sub.7 R.sub.8, SR.sub.9 or --S-phenyl, it being possible for the substituents OR.sub.6, SR.sub.9 and NR.sub.7 R.sub.8 to form 5- or 6-membered rings, via the radicals R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8 or R.sub.9 with further substituents on the heteroaryl ring or with one of the carbon atoms of the heteroaryl ring, or, if m is 0, R.sub.1 additionally is C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl or CN;
• or R.sub.1 is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, with the proviso that R.sub.2 is not simultaneously H or alkyl;
• R'.sub.1 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene, phenylene, naphthylene, ##STR76## diphenylene or oxydiphenylene, the radicals phenylene, naphthylene, ##STR77## diphenylene and oxydiphenylene being unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl;
• R.sub.2 has one of the meanings of R.sub.1 or is unsubstituted or CN-substituted phenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkanoyl, benzoyl that is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, phenyl, OR.sub.6, SR.sub.9, NR.sub.7 R.sub.8 or --S-phenyl, or R.sub.2 is phenoxycarbonyl, NO.sub.2, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl, S(O).sub.n C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted S(O)n--C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl, SO.sub.2 O--C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, SO.sub.2 O--C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl, diphenyl-phosphinoyl or NHCONH.sub.2, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together with the CO group, form a 5- or 6-membered ring that is unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, phenyl, OR.sub.6, SR.sub.9, NR.sub.7 R.sub.8 or --S-phenyl, and said ring may additionally be interrupted by O,S, NR.sub.7 or by CO, and to which ring one or more benzo radicals may be fused;
• n is 1 or 2;
• or
• R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.18 alkyl, phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl, camphoryl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 haloalkyl, phenyl, naphthyl, anthracyl or phenanthryl, the radicals phenyl, naphthyl, anthracyl and phenanthryl being unsubstituted or substituted by one or more of the radicals halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl, CN, NO.sub.2, C.sub.1 -C.sub.16 alkyl, phenyl, OR.sub.6, COOR.sub.9, --OCO--C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, SO.sub.2 OR.sub.9 or NR.sub.7 R.sub.8 ;
• R'.sub.3 when x is 1, has one of the meanings given for R.sub.3, and when x is 2, R'.sub.3 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkylene, phenylene, naphthylene, ##STR78## diphenylene or oxydiphenylene, the radicals phenylene, naphthylene, ##STR79## diphenylene and oxydiphenylene being unsubstituted or substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl;
• R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are independently of each other hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl, CN, NO.sub.2, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkanoyl, benzoyl, phenyl, --S-phenyl, OR.sub.6, SR.sub.9, NR.sub.7 R.sub.8, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, S(O).sub.n C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted S(O).sub.n --C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl, SO.sub.2 O--C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, SO.sub.2 O--C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl or NHCONH.sub.2, or R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 together are --C(R.sub.12).dbd.C(R.sub.13)--C(R.sub.14).dbd.C(R.sub.15)--;
• R.sub.6 is hydrogen, phenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by phenyl, OH, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl, (4-methylphenyl)sulfonyl or by C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkanoyl and said C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl may additionally be interrupted by --O--;
• R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are independently of each other hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by OH, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl, (4-methylphenyl)sulfonyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkanoyl and said C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl may additionally be interrupted by --O--, or R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are phenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkanoyl, benzoyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkylsulfonyl, phenylsulfonyl, (4-methylphenyl)sulfonyl, naphthylsulfonyl, anthracylsulfonyl or phenanthrylsulfonyl, or R.sub.7 and R.sub.8, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, form a 5-, 6- or 7-membered ring which may be interrupted by --O-- or by --NR.sub.6 --;
• R.sub.9 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by OH or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy and said C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl may additionally be interrupted by --O--;
• A is S, O, NR.sub.6, or a group of formula A1, A2, A3 or A4 ##STR80## R.sub.10 and R.sub.11 independently of each other have one of the meanings given for R.sub.4, or R.sub.10 and R.sub.11 together are --CO--NR.sub.6 CO--, or R.sub.10 and R.sub.11 together are --C(R.sub.12).dbd.C(R.sub.13)--C(R.sub.14).dbd.C(R.sub.15)--;
• R.sub.12, R.sub.13, R.sub.14 and R.sub.15 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, halogen, phenyl, OR.sub.6, SR.sub.9, NR.sub.7 R.sub.8, --S-phenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, CN, NO.sub.2, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl, S(O).sub.n C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, unsubstituted or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl-substituted S(O)n--C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl, SO.sub.2 O--C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, SO.sub.2 O--C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 aryl or NHCONH.sub.2 ;
• Z is CR.sub.11 or N;
• Z.sub.1 is --CH.sub.2 --, S, O or NR.sub.6.
