Abstract
Microparticles of a water-soluble material, which are smooth and spherical, and at least 90% of which have a mass median particle size of 1 to 10 .mu.m, and which carry a therapeutic or diagnostic agent can successfully be used in dry powder inhalers to deliver the said agent.
Claims8
A composition of matter, comprising substantially dry, discrete microparticles having a solid wall formed of a non-denatured, water-soluble wall-forming material, wherein said microparticles are hollow and substantially smooth and spherical, wherein at least 90% of said microparticles have a particle size of between 1 and 10 .mu.m, and wherein said water-soluble material is an amino- or polyamino-acid.
A composition of matter, comprising substantially dry, discrete microparticles having a solid wall formed of a non-denatured, water-soluble wall-forming material, wherein said microparticles are hollow and substantially smooth and spherical, wherein at least 90% of said microparticles have a particle size of between 1 and 10 .mu.m, and wherein said water-soluble material is a protein, peptide or enzyme.
A composition of matter, comprising substantially dry, discrete microparticles having a solid wall formed of a non-denatured. water-soluble wall-forming material, wherein said microparticles are hollow and substantially smooth and spherical, wherein at least 90% of said microparticles have a particle size of between 1 and 10 .mu.m. and wherein said water-soluble material is a human protein or fragment or recombinant thereof.
