Abstract
Compositions and methods for improving the characteristics of foundry cores which includes adding to a foundry aggregate mixture polyurethane resin binder comprising epoxy resin and, preferably, paraffinic oil.
Claims10
A method for producing a urethane foundry binder which resists water-based coatings comprising the steps of:
- mixing together a polyhydroxy phenolic resole resin, at least one polyisocyanate, an epoxy resin having an epoxy functionality of at least two and soluble in the mixture, and a from about 0.1 to about 25 weight percent of paraffinic oil to form a mixture.
