Abstract
A lithographic printing ink contains a lithographic varnish containing an alkali soluble or dispersible binder material which is the reaction product of an acid functional hard resin with a fatty ester oil and/or an alkyd resin.

A lithographic printing ink comprising an alkali-soluble or dispersible binder material which is the reaction product of an acid functional hard resin with a fatty ester oil and/or an alkyd resin, wherein the acid functional hard resin has an acid value of at least 50 mgKOH/g and a weight ratio of the acid functional hard resin to oil plus alkyd resin is from 4:1 to 0.5:1.
