Abstract
The present invention provides a method to specifically target hair follicles with formulations which effect the production of hair coloring pigments in the follicle. Liposomal formulations for this purpose are disclosed.
Claims10
A method to provide for the production of hair coloring pigments in hair follicles, which method comprises
- topically applying to the skin of a subject containing hair follicles for which hair coloring pigment production is desired, a liposomal formulation comprising an effective amount of a composition which provides for the production of hair coloring pigments in hair follicles,
- wherein said liposomal formulation consists essentially of liposomes which encapsulate said composition and target said composition selectively into the hair follicle by transfer into the follicle without entry into the circulation or the adjacent skin tissue, wherein the liposomes are comprised of phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and cholesterol.
A liposomal formulation for delivery of a composition for promotion of production of coloring pigments to hair follicles by transfer into the follicle without entry into the circulation or skin tissue adjacent to the follicle wherein said composition consists essentially of liposomes that encapsulate at least one of
- an amount of tyrosinase effective to provide for production of hair coloring pigments and
- an expression system for the production of tyrosinase in an amount effective to provide for production of hair coloring pigment in the hair follicle, wherein the liposomes are comprised of phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and cholesterol.
