Abstract
Cloning and expression of nucleotide DNA segments encoding bovine IL-1.beta., and processes for producing purified bovine IL-1.beta. as a product of recombinant cell culture, are disclosed.

Substantially homogenous purified mature biologically active bovine interleukin-1.beta. (blL-1.beta.) comprising an amino acid sequence of amino acids 114-266 of FIG. 2, or an amino acid sequence that has one or more substitutions, deletions, or additions to the amino acid sequence of amino acids 114-266 of FIG. 2, wherein the specific activity of said purified blL-1.beta. as measured in a bovine thymocyte assay is at least 1.times.10.sup.5 units/mg of protein.
Substantially homogeneous purified mature biologically active bIL-1.beta. comprising an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of amino acids 114-266 of FIG. 2 and a sequence comprising a methionine residue at the N-terminus followed by amino acids 114-266 of FIG. 2.
Substantially homogeneous purified biologically active bIL-1.beta. comprising the amino acid sequence shown as amino acids 1-266 of FIG. 2.
