Abstract
A method for processing a black-and-white silver halide photographic light-sensitive material. The method comprises the steps of (1) developing the black-and-white photographic light-sensitive material containing a quaternary onium compound with a developer containing ascorbic acid or a derivative thereof and having a pH value of from 8.0 to 10.0, (2) fixing the light-sensitive material, (3) washing the light-sensitive material by an automatic processor having a multi-step counter flow washing system, and (4) drying the light-sensitive material.
Claims5
A method for processing a black-and-white photographic light-sensitive material comprising the steps of
- developing the black-and-white photographic light-sensitive material containing 1.times.10.sup.-8 to 1.0 mols of a quaternary onium compound per mol of silver halide with a developer containing 0.05 to 1.0 mols of ascorbic acid or a derivative thereof per liter of said developer and 10.sup.-6 to 10.sup.-1 mols of a compound of Formula S per liter of developer, said developer having a pH value of from 8.0 to 10.0;
- fixing the light-sensitive material;
- washing the light-sensitive material by an automatic processor having a multi-step counter flow washing system, and
- drying the light-sensitive material;
- Formula S
- Z.sub.1 --SM.sub.1
- wherein Z.sub.1 is an alkyl group, an aromatic group or a heterocyclic group, each of which has a substituent selected from the group consisting of hydroxyl, --SO.sub.3 M.sub.2, --COOM.sub.2, amino, and ammonio, wherein M.sub.2 is hydrogen, alkali metal, or amidino.
